I have a new tank (four months old). I started using it about two months ago and I see lots of new growth. It started by looking like freckles, but now the algea is starting to cover the back glass and my LR. I did have a lot of the algea to begin with so I had a good base to seed the new growth.
I recommend it highly. It also helps with the calcium levels in the tank.

all this stuff has is the normal trace elements (calcium, iodine, strotium) and argonite (which either the substrate or liverock should be made of). I would much prefer (and do) add these supplement these seperately as needed. I have a book that says coralline algae thrives under heavy actinic lighting. IMO it grows on its own in a mature tank without any help.

I agree, my tank is just over a year old, I've not added anything to promote Coraline algae and it grows so rapidly it's becoming a nuscience to keep off of the front glass. It is solid on the back and I've just about let it take over the sides as well.

I know this is the wrong place but while I'm here, can anyone tell me why when I reply to a post it has the little edit icon at the bottom? No one else seems to have this.....

Its so you can go back and edit your response to the post. Everyone has it but you can only see it on your response.
