Live Rock Cycling??

Newb question about live rock. I just read somewhere that my lights shouldn't be on while my live rock cycles in the tank. It said that this will cause a bad algae bloom. Now I've been to about 500 live rock sites and this is the first time I heard about this. Can anyone share some personal expirences with this?

I've had my lights on from day one. I think I'm about done cycling

Different strokes for......well you know.
Some do some don't but I think you will find that the majority of people keep a standard lighting schedule during cycling. I did because I wanted to look at the rocks everyday!!!!!
