live rock-dead or alive

I know my live rock is alive because all my readings and fish are perfect and healthy, but why does it not grow anything, it always looks like it is dead or in better terms a fake rock <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

It takes time. If you had to re-cure the lr after shipping it may take a lot longer for things to grow on it. What I would suggest is going to your LFS and inspecting some smaller pieces of lr, select one that's got good growth and add it to your tank. Eventually you'll re-seed the rest of your lr with growth from the addition.
It took my lr a while, but once the purple algae took hold the growth of everything (not just algae) was amazing. Like everything in this hobby, it takes time.

Have you ever treated you tank for anything? even before you got the rock was it ever treated. what about the sand.....it can hold things like copper. what type of lighting do you have. go get a super daylight buld and a piece of mature lr and add some calcium or maybe iodine to your water that will help. before you know it youll be right where you want to be.
however it wont happen over night.

I use calcium, strontium and iodine. The coraline is growing very nicely. It will not however happen overnight. Take pictures now and then use these supplements and you will see a big difference in a couple of months.
