when buying rock smell the rock... if it smells like eggs (some say red tide) do not buy it. If it smells like the beach or salt water... buy..
There are so many things that can come with Live Rock. Some good...some bad...

well i have a different oppinon well i would chose uncured because if you cure the rock you could be killing animals you want but you have to be ready because the live rock can contain animals that you dont want so is a 50 50 but i think ill take my chance.

nope cured rock has been in salt water that is within 'acceptable' ranges...and has plenty of good and bad organisms...
depending on tank size of your tank..
what size is your tank? or wanabe tank?

So living creatures (corals and inverts) can come on Cured Rock???
My tank is a 55gal...
I am a newb to the hobby.. :) (We all have to start somewhere!)
I think I will go biology and just use my DSB and LR with a protein skimmer to start with.. I know people who have had success with out any other filters.. But as always.. OPINIONS APPRECIATED!!
I want a nice reef tank.. few fish and some nice coral.. So any suggestions on tank preparation, lighting, etc.. is appreciated.

cured lr has been in a saltwater system long enough for the die-off to basically rot away....die-off has cycled sort of and there will be plenty of life remaining.
un-cured lr has not been kept in a system to allow the die-off to rot away....When placed in a saltwater system the die-off will sort of cycle and when it stabalises there willbe life remaining.
both will have life remaining...*_^...thats what makes it LR.
I prefer to cycle a new system with un-cured lr and try to use cured lr when adding to an established system...
figi lr is my personal choice...but there are numerous types to consider....
I would suggest a total of 1-2 lbs per gal...but this is a personal choice also....in my 55 reef I have approximately 100 lbs of well cured figi lr...in my fish only community system I have maybe 40 lbs(55 gal)...and in my 29 gal aggressive I have only 20 lbs or so(plan to add more to both fish only systems eventually)...the benefits of good quality LR are numerous...but primarily is the abality of the bacteria to process nitrites into nitrates which is a good thing in any system. Plus there will be some un-expected life forms that will show up(some good others bad)....

ya but i still think if you cure live rock you get of some of the organizams you want and the bad organizams also go away but i like uncure better.

Were those posts in English?
Uncured is cheaper becasue you have to cure it before you can stock your tank and that takes time. Some life will make it through the curing process though.
You want 1 to 2lbs of rock per gallon.
I just bought 50lbs of cured LR on the net and am very happy with the way it looks and the amount of life it has. I bought from ***************.com but I have heard good things on this board about gulfview.com and this site as well.

Uncured rocks obviously come with more hitch hikers. During transport some of them die or near death. If you put these in your tank, these dead hitch hikers will decompose and pollute your tank. Cured rock, on the otherhand, has had those deaths removed but retains the ones which survived shipment and curing processes making them safer to place directly in your tank compared to uncured ones.

i got cured lr fromthis site and it had nothing as far as critters. some coraline algae and thats it. my local fish stores dont sell cured rock and they dont sell live sand so i am forced to buy online. i still prefer cured rock

I have bought from SWF.com and Premium Aquatics.com. I was really pleased with what I got from SWF.com and semi pleased with what I got from PA.com. I bought cured both times because I don't want a mantis shrimp. I bought from two different sites because I wanted some variety in the size and shape. Both times I bought Fiji rock because it is lighter and more porous, allowing for what most say is better filtration ability. I picked up 3 pieces from the LFS because I liked the way it looked...it was expensive though. I have 160 lbs so far total.
Your tank...your choice.

If you decide to go with uncured LR, and cycle with it, I would not run the skimmer at first. Give it a week or two and then fire up the skimmer.
