Live Rock... err.. maybe?

I have some spare live rock (if you could call it that) that has been out of my tank for a couple of months. Surely everything benificial about it has died off. Would there be any risks of puting it back in my tank? Its not the most attractive right now, but coraline grows fast in my tank.

Congratulatioins on your home made base rock.
I would clean it off really really well before putting it back in the tank. Boiling probably wouldn't be a bad idea just to make sure you're not going to mess up your DT by introducing decaying / decayed matter.

I would boil it or set it up in a tote and cure it (maybe add a small piece of decent rock to start the seeding process)
I did something similar with sand that was dead in someones tank no heat circulation etcetera, I put the sand it the tote with some newly mixed marine water, got it up to temp and after 2 days added a cup full of sand from my tank, 2 days later I added more, and so it continued for two weeks I did a water change befroe I added new3 sand, after two weeks no more ammonia, I also stirred the sand every day but that doesnt apply for LR.

LR rubble can catch debris like bioballs and add to problems as well. id just use it as is.
if it was outside, id say boil it. if it was inside a garage or closet in a box or something, you should just be able to rinse it off good and add it to the tank.
and theres no need to cure it if its been out of the tank for months.

It is my understanding that LR rubble provides more space for benificial bacteria, also I like the idea of a more naturual filteration.

if it has enough flow going through it. if your just replacing it where the bioballs were, itll be trapping a lot of junk.
