Live Rock Help

Last weekend i went out and bought a 20 gallon extra high fish tank and i put saltwater in it. the guy at the fish store said that i have to have a special light to put on top of the tank for the live rock to be in there. well i was wondering if i put the live rock in there do i need that special light or was he just trying to sell me stuff. I want to put just live rock in the tank not coral or and inverts. :notsure:

you dont need an extra light just to keep liverock, but you will need a higher watage light to keep corals n such

You do not need special lighting for LR.

You dont need a "special" light, per say. But higher wattage lighting can help coralline algae growth. Thats probably what he was referring to.

If you purchase uncured live rock you might just end up with corals and or inverts.
