Live Rock Light

I have a regular strip light right now (40 watts). If I get some live rock will that be ok. Is it the amount of watts or the kind of light that's best for lr. I could get a 50/50 bulb but that still would be 40 watts. Should I not bother with lr if I only have 40 watts?

the only advantage to a 50/50 is your fish may look a little better because it will be a little more in the blue spectrum

I bought some lr the other day and the store guy was telling me it's not the watts its the blue that makes the lr benificial. Is he just trying to sell a light or would the 50 50 be the way to go. I know David already said the 50 50 just makes fish look better but I'm hoping for more opinions so I know for sure.

the 50/50 will make things look better, but not cause them to be better...being most hobbyist go by how does it look method, if you have the $$$ for the 50/50, do so...too bad most LFS aren' set up like best buy stereo rooms where you play w/ things & can decide for yourself...so that they would have an area w/ same type of contents w/ various lighting set ups to compare yourself
