Live Rock...Necessary?

:help: Ok, I have been away from it all for a little while, but I have decided to get back into the swing of things. So, I am going to set my tank up again...... In light of having less time these days, I have decided to have only fish in my tank and no corals of any type. I have a decent protein skimmer for my tank and I was wondering if live rock is necessary. I was thinking about buying/making corals like what you may see in a restaurant or something. Will this be a problem with no live rock??? And also, I have a 90 Watt HPS for my 50 gallon tank will this become problematic considering that light will be not needed????
Any help here?? Thanks a bunch..

Your fish will be healthier and happier with live rock and sand in the tank but it is not a requirement. it will provide a better enviornment in my opinion.

few of my friends tried to do the old short cut $ and did not go with the live rock the tanks kept on crashing all the time and the loss was far greater than the live rock in the long run my oppinion is that l/rock is the lung of an aquarium dont go wiyh out it!

go with LR, it serves so many purposes such as your biofilter, a natural food source for fish and inverts, and many times you'll get intresting hitch hikers like sponges, sea urchins, sea stars, and corals

I have had tanks with LiveRock and without. Using LiveRock is much more benificial for your Fish as well as the small ecosystem that you'll be keeping. Use it, you'll be happier that you did.
