live rock problem

so with this moss stuff is there anything I can do to make it go away

Can you scrub it off with a brush? If it's dead it's not doing you any good on the rock.

hey wait a minute... that looks like my friends live rock, well he just finished cycling the tank and we had a huge live rock in the tank when it cycled it with shrimp for 3 weeks.... Would that be cause of the NITRATE problem in the tank, the tester says its the highest level, we even used that nitrate thing where you fill up a sack with these white rocks to denitarafy the water and even tried changing the water but no real results .....
