Live Rock question

do you mean dead LIVE ROCK, from a reef, or dead rock, ther are many different rocks, on this earth that are dead or not living or regular, and i would not add hardly nay of them, there are many minerals adn other terrible things that will DESTROY a sw tank, maybe even forever(some things cannot be removed from the sysem easily, even if you change the water, it gets ion the glass, in the sand, and teh other rock, and scares me to the point that if i wer buying a used system, i would look at this, first, before even worrying about leaks even
you wern't the one last night asking about using dead rock from the alley behind the lfs, were you?? if so, i gave you my opinion, if not, i would love to help more, but whipple and i could use a better explantion of the rock(or anyone else for that fact)

ok, sorry, i did look,and i appologize, that is why i asked, someone asked about using rock that they found in the alley behind their lfs, and i really did not like that idea(jsut the possible pollution, ya know)
anyhow, if it is dead live rock, FROM A REEF(not lava rock or somethign else), or just the ocean, then yes it will be fine, it may take some time, but it will become live again(and no one can say how long, all tanks are different, that depend on the h2o, the lr and the dead rockand the ratio and everything, lightin; and all conditions being equal, no 2 systems will be teh exact same), so just be patient with it, it will happen, and you can, yes,keep fish in the mean time, without problem, the only thing, you may have to battle the algae a bit, until the coraline takes off(but that can be dealt with, fairly easily)
