Live rock question

I'm in the process of setting up a 12G nano cube with 15-20lbs of live rock and a 2 inch live sand bed. My amonia, nitrite and nitrate have all been 0 for over a week now even after a 50% water change. 4 days ago I noticed one of my live rocks turning white. Today it is totally white but amonia nitrate, nitrite are still 0. Is this cause for concern? I was going to get my clean up crew tomorrow, but not sure now. I plan on only having 1 small clownfish or 1 firefisjh in this tank. Any help would be appreciated. :help:

Although I am new to this I do know that your tank has not gone through its cycle yet.Don't change any more water until you have some readings for amonia, then nitrite and finally nitrate. Only then should you consider a water change. One week wait is not enough.Good luck,

Actually it has gone through the cycle. It has been running for over 3 weeks now. The amonia went up to .50 for a few days and then dropped to 0. The nitrites went to 5.0 before dropping to 0. The nitrates went to 40 before dropping off to 0. I waited almost a week after everything went to 0 before changing the water. Is it safe to put the clean up crew into it??? :help:

It will come back. Just give it time. No saying how long. Just gotta be patient.
