Live rock question

I have not set up my saltwater tank yet and just found a deal on craigslist where a guy was selling well cured fiji rock for 1.50 lb. I went ahead and purchased 27 lbs. for 37$ (gave me a discount bc one rock was really heavy and small?). I put the rock a 15 gallon tank with ro saltwater. Long story short, I broke my heater and had to put in a small heater, the water temperature has not got above around 65. How will this low temperature affect the live rock? I have a heat lamp, should i put that on the tank, or is that bad for it? Please let me know before i get lots of die off. I dont have time to get a heater tonight and it is too late anyways.

Not really too sure about that. I would think it would be ok.. worst case is there may be some dieoff.. in which case you'll just need to cycle the tank and wait till all your levels are at zero before adding anything living.
Invest in a heater and check your levels regularly.

Could you boil some water and SLOWLY introduce it to the 15 gal to raise its temp?
I'm just a newb so that advice may be suspect. Anyone?

boiling water would be WAY too hot (remember if water feels hot to you, its probably at least 100degrees because reg. body temp. is aprox. 97degrees).... i think the rock should be fine till tomorrow (just as long as it's kept wet), then go get that new filter asap and start the cycling process
! good luck

I actually do not have a tank yet. I am expecting to pick one up this weekend...I am borrowing a friends 15 gallon and have just put a power head and heater in it. The temp is around 80-82. live rock is fine to stay in there for a long period of time as long as the temp and salinity are fine, right?

yes as long as you keep the temp and salinity in control the rock will be fine if there is coraline on it and you dont have lights on it then that will dieoff but the rocks bacteria and hitchikers will be fine.
