Live Rock Question

So.. the cured live rock has been in the tank since sunday night. I notice some algae growth. And I also notice lots of cruddy buildup on the rocks themselves. Not sure what it is, but if I aim a powerhead at the rocks, *lots* of crud blows off into the water.
What is it?
No other animals are in the tank yet, just Live rock, testing shows no spikes in any reading yet either.

I had the cruddy brown stuff on my rocks to. I am not sue what it is. I just kept blowing it off into my filter it took a while to get rid of it that way but it worked well. You will have to clean the filters often though you will be suprised how much is on the rocks.

Cured as in, 100% cured. I got the rock from someone breaking down his system, 100 pounds, right out of an established tank, moved in buckets with newspaper drenched in salt water covering them... drove for about 30 min before getting it into my tank.

I guess anything under 100 % would not be cured, anyway the cured rock obviously was impacted with detritus when you got it. It is a good idea to take a brush to any rock you are putting in your tank and give it a scrub in salt water Just for the record what I do Is put salt water in a pump pressure sprayer and us it on the rock to brake up any impacted material

Well I added 80lbs to my 55. Some cured and 30 of uncured to get my cycle going. It took me about 2-3 weeks to get it to go bye bye. When you blow it off though it will cloud your tank for a few hours intell it settles. But once a day for 2 weeks then clean your filters every few days. It will go away. But even still to this day if I take a power head to the rock you will still get stuff blow off nothing compaerd to what it was though.
