Live Rock Question

I just started up a 75G Tank with crushed coral as the sub and I just purchased 27 pounds of live rock ( Great deal by the way at $4.00 a pound). I want to know do you need to add any food to feed your live rock ?
Thanks
Befrore you say thats not enough rock I know I ordered 50 pounds of dry base rock and am hopeing it will become live from the 25 pounds.

I do not feed anything special to my lr, but try to keep your calcium at 400/450ppm to grow a nice covering of coraline.

i've never really gotten a straight answer on this. it's been asked before. i think you could dose very small amounts of either some kind of phytoplankton mix or microvert. just to satisfy any lr critters you may have. be careful not to over do it and foul up your water. take this with a grain of salt though. maybe someone will come through with some solid advice on this. i've asked this before myself..

I don't think you would need to intentionally feed live rock. Other than during the initial cycle, everyone will add other creatures that need to be fed. I think the feeding of the corals, fish, etc. will more than satisfy any requirement of the inhabitants of the rock.

yeah, good call ed. no use in dosing the tank with liquid foods yet. not worth it. the light does seem to be the "magic ingredient" :D

I recently started dosing my tank with trace elements once weekly and i've seen a noticeable difference in the coralline algae growth. Don't know if it's that for sure though

I used Reef Solution from Ecosystem after 100Lbs of live rock was done cycling in a new 54 gallon. It was UNREAL the difference, this otherwise bland rock started growing 4 colors of corraline, and many other interesting things started popping out, including several mushrooms. Trace element supplements can't hurt, and in this case they really kicked this rock into gear.
