Live Rock With Fake Rock?

Since I need about 90+ lbs of LR, I was wondering if some of that in fake rock would be just as good? That LR is expensive. I have one piece of fake rock which is very porous and is growing algae.

If you put down a foundation of base rock and then put live rock on top of it, eventually the base rock will become live rock.

Ok, thanks. I will get some more fake rock. I have just one fish in there now and the cycle is almost complete. I do plan to change out the CC for sand because I like the looks of it better.

A Lot Of Us Use Tufa Rock Or Other 'non=live' (not Fake-its Real Rock!!)
For The Base Because Live Rock Is So Expensive And Because It Just Gets Buried Underneath. As Mentioned Before, Over Time, The Base Rock Will Populate With All Kinds Of Stuff!
Do Be Careful About What You Use For Your Base Rock, Though. Tufa Is Best, Lava Rock Is Not Safe As It Is Loaded With Debris And Contaminants.
