Live Rock

I went on vacation for spring break only to return to my black tank. I had an electric feeder that I used at x-mas break and it worked great for 3 weeks but that was not the case this time. I returned to find the feeder completely empty and the food lying in the bottom of the tank (I usually use frozen food, feeder is for holidays.) All my fish and shrimp were dead. My question is, I wanna save the live rock and i was wondering if it was possible and if yes what should I do, Thanks.

Ya, you can save it. I would get a big Rubbermaid storage container or trash barrel and mix some fresh saltwater (enough to cover all the rock) and then throw all the LR in it. I would probably rinse off the LR real well though before putting it in the container.

By "freshwater", I'm sure Johnny means freshly mixed saltwater. Putting live rock in freshwater (as in no salt) is a sure way to kill everything on it....just didn't want you to get confused.

One last thing, does the water have to be a certain tempature, if it is to cold will it kill the live rock.

Its always a good idea to have a spare heater lying around. I use mine for when I am mixing a fresh container of saltwater for water changes, and if I need to cure live rock. You should always have your saltwater at proper temp. to get the right salinity and SG readings.
