How many lbs of live rock should I have for 125g

Depends on what type of tank you want (fish only, fowlr, or reef).
Most will say between 1.5 to 2 lbs per gal tank.

I have a 55 gal with 100 lbs of LR in it.
IMO I would use at least 180 lbs. If you can't afford it all at once you can save money by using 1/2 LR and 1/2 base rock. You can also buy what you can afford now and add fully cured LR from your LFS as you can afford it.
Remember though if you buy fully cured LR on line it will not be fully cured when it reaches you. You will have to cure it yourself.
