Why would u need to clean it? If your tank is cycled and your doing a water change, just take out 10% the water and put new water in. You shouldnt need to clean the rock.

i have heard of people blowing their rock off with a turkey baster to stir everything up and while the stuff is still floating all around, pull the water out for the water change, it will pull some of that floating crap out.

I sure do not know whwre y'all get yur so called live rock at, but in my life I have cured quite a few hundred pounds of the stuff and probablay have not gotten a teaspoon full of so called floating crap off it all. What live rock creates is crap you do not see without a test kit, and non of the stuff folks seem so compulsive to do away with or scrub away is most beneficial........Get the rock, and put it in the water and start cycling ./ curing it.....

Depends on how "fresh" the rock is Chip. I've seen and cured rock that came with a LOT of sponges and corals on it that didn't survive the curing. Definitely left sediment.
