Live rock

My tank is completely cycled, and now I am looking at getting live rock. I went to the store today and the person helping me said that I could not have live rock in an aquarium with any bleached coral or fake ornaments. I asked him why, and he said, because "bad things can happen". I took his word for it, but have a hard time believing it. If this is true, live rock couldn't live on crushed coral which is found in a lot of substrates, which is bleached. Is this true what he said?

I think he was probably worried about the bleach part of the corals, which makes no sense because that would be just as bad for the fish and inverts as it would the rock. if ITS DONE RIGHT the bleach will be gone before it is introduced to the tank. And I have 100lbs of rock with a piece of bleached coral on it. Everything is fine.
