Live Rock

I just set up my new 90 gal. tank about three weeks ago. I finally got some live rock and put it in the tank to cycle it. I had to settle for uncured rock so I thought it would be a good opportunity to spike my ammonia levels. Anyway the rock I bought has some bubble algae and green grass looking algae that doesn't look very attractive. What could I buy that would get rid of it? Also there is some apstasia on the rock. If I got some inverts would they be helpful. The tank is going to be a FOWLR. Any help would be appreciated!

Depending on what you're going to keep in the FOWLR, some fish will eat / attack inverts. Some have good luck with inverts eating algae, so inverts wont touch it. Best method is manual removing (don't pop the bubble alge in the tank though).

Turn off the lights for a few days and get a CUC. Maybe throw a tang in there and let them go to town. If you dont plan on getting any triggers your hermits should be fine.

If the water in your fish's home is green, then algae is growing in the water, which shows that the water contains too much dissolved fish waste. You should change some of the water in your fish's home every day, until the water in your fish's home is clear again.
How much water should you change? Don't overreact and change too much water at one time. Change 20% of the water once each day until the green is gone, then change 20% of the water twice a week.
There are four approaches to getting rid of algae. Get some fish to eat it, poison the algae with chemicals, reduce the amount of light, or starve the algae by reducing the amount of nutrients in the water.
Algae Eating Fish such as Plecostomus Catfish
http://www.agritura.com and Siamese Algae Eaters are both good aquarium fishes that will eat some types of algae. But they will usually not eat all the algae in an aquarium, and we don't have a fish available that will filter
http://www.agritua.com
http://www.agritua.com out the algae that grows in water and makes the water green. Most aquarists enjoy having one or both of these types of fish, but an algae eating fish usually won't solve an algae problem.

well once you start adding in fish i suggest a silver scat they are normally sold as brackish fish and do great in marine.. you just have to acclimate him to it you can also ask your LFS to do it for you..these are very hardy fish non aggressive but venomous.. and they eat everything that you don't want in your tank.aiptasia algaes(almost every type)fish waste ect.. hense the name scat.. and they are cool looking fish. not predator nor prey
this pic scat, panther grouper and vol lion
