Live Rock

I just bought some live rock from a guy that is breaking down his reef aquarium and it has alot of black algae on it. Can i just get like a sponge and scrub the algae off before i put it into my tank. that wont kill anything will it?

Not quite sure what your "Black Algae" is.... But if it is this Plate Algae stuff, you need to get rid of it first....... It can spread too much........
