so i was just wondering what live rock is going for at your lfs? i visited mine the other day and they were trying to sell fiji lr for $19/lb. i was a bit amused....seriously?!?! needless to say i dont frequent there often and i certainly dont purchase much from them.

Fiji rock is commanding a high price these days, I've heard it's now banned from import.
That still seems very high though.

$19/lb is absurd. around pgh, pa its usually $7/lb. i just filled out my tank w/ 50# of base rock for $2/lb. i like that it was weighed dry, because in a while it will be LR and once wet probably weighs more like 80#. never bought base rock before, but now that i have i'll definately recommend it in combination w/ lr rather than all lr.

live rock here is anywhere from 2.49 (base) to 7-8 for fancier stuff! I can't tell the difference between one rock or another so I figure when I go to purchase some more I'll buy stuff in the middle price range.

That is absurd. I've lived in Dallas, TX, OKC, OK, and Miami, Fl. I've seen any where from $6-9/lb. Also, you can order it saltwaterfish.com for about $4.50/ lb delivered, and they give you a $20 credit toward your next purchase.

I am very picky about my rock...I used no base rock, and only buy the best coraline covered pieces with lots of nooks and crannies, the most I ever paid was $10.00/lb, most of what I bought cost only $7.00/lb. $19.00/lb is outrageous.

I do live in dallas, tx and at most of the stores here the live rock is around $9/lb but some places I've seen try and charge $11/lb. I know a guy locally that gets premium figi and sells it for $3.50/lb. that's where I got all my live rock. Base rock is a totally different story.

My fiji was 6 dollars a pound although I have also seen it for as much as 14 at a local LFS for stuff that had been sitting in a tank for a while and had lots of stuff growing on it. I would look around if you have more options because price seems to differ greatly between stores at least in my area.

I live in Maryland, and they are selling Cured Premium Live Rock (Fiji) for $3.99 a lb.
It was on sale I got a 5 lb rock with bunch of coraline algae on it for only $20! I was excited. First rock I bought was $5.99 and that was about $45 and it was 8 lbs!

Fish stores go for 7bucks a pound, i filled my tank with 60 pounds for 2.50 a pound.. all Lr... and i have to say MARCO rocks are nice.. .

I got 88lbs of fiji and totoka live rock for 2.49 a lb. here in LA. The place I bought it from does ship but I'm in driving distance so why bother? My lfs sells it for 4.99 a lb, this one is already cured. I also bought 60lbs of dry base rock online with free shipping for 1.70 a lb.
