im getting some live rock for my 75g tank im starting and im thinking about getting some dry rock and seeding it with live rock and i was reading some reviews on some caribsea south seas base rock and a review said dont get dry ronk here is the review
I found out the hard way. Thought I could save money by buying dry rock but as I learned the hard way, green hair algae will have a field day as there is nothing competing for real estate and quickly take over your tank! I ended up tossing all of this away, bought live Fiji Rock and now I get absolutely no green hair algae period. Yeah a few specks but my clean up crew takes care of that. The dry rock was awful, the green hair algae grew so fast, I had to manually remove all of it every day or else it would just be out of control. If you however, have a fish only tank, then taking this and scrubbing with a toothbrush every week wouldn't be that bad.
My phosphates and nitrates were very very low.
those of you that have used it to get your tank started is this true or is it something that thus guy did?
