live sand bed / crushed coral

I have a 150 gal setup with what they told me was a crushed coral bed(appox. 2 inches). I would like to make it a live sand bed. Do i have to take the crushed coral out of the tank before i add the live sand or can i add the live sand over the crushed coral ?

Get all the CC out first,

I would remove it, just for the fact that you would end up with too deep a sand bed with both layers..

The crushed will eventually work its way back to the top and cause all of the same problems. I'm not sure why - but it definately does.
