I am currently setting up an 75g reef tank for my dad. I found a really good deal on live rock and sand, 90 lbs lr for $200 w/ 100 lbs of ls for free. When I brought the lr and ls they were in a plastic bin w/ salt water. So I mixed up
some salt and water in the tank and when it was time to add the sand I notice it hada really bad smell to it. I figured that maybe once I put it under water and the smell would go away. About a day later it still smells. Is this normal or could the sand be dying off. The live rock is fine and the guy told me that as long as I keep the lr and ls moist it'll be fine.
