the bacteria in the sand will be fine as long as you keep water in it. It will be fine at room temp. Hermits and Snails not so much. why isn't the sand going to see the tank soon?
anyways, if you snag like a 20 gallon tote from walmart put the sand in there, add salt water and a heater, a small powerhead and let it get to 78 then acclimate the hermits and snails. throw them some flake every other day. do a 5 gallon water change every two weeks while you cycle your new tank.

i'll take your advice and try the tote. all i have right now is a tank light and a stand i just built. i was actually going to build a refugium and buy pieces as i could afford them .i went on CL and scored a deal on 150 lbs.LR a refugium 2 skimmers, timers, phosban reactor, test kits,ro unitand muce more for $500 my tank is sitting empty.tomorrow afternoon i'll be getting everything, but i didn't want to take a chance on a lot of die off in the LS. she also has a couple powerheads and other pumps too that's included.she broke her tank down yesterday, and whoever she had made the deal with backed out, lucky for me.so that's where i'm at and i appreciate your advice .i'll give it a shot..walt

if you put it all in a tube and its to deep you will kill off alot of bacteria in the sand but not enough to worry about you will have a major cycle once you put it all together though
