Old town aquarium is great. Chicago reptile house in orland park is awesome and the new aquatica in Oak forest is really sweet. Look them up.

There are numerous through out the suburbs. Here are some that I think are nice. There is a real nice one in Skokie, but I can't think of the name right now.
Beyond the Reef - Schaumburg
Advanced Aquatics - Schaumburg
Exotic Aquatics - Algonquin
The Living Sea Aquarium - Park Ridge
Pet Paradise - Downer's Grove
Scott's Pet Shop - Westchester

Living Sea - nice setup but the prices are extremely outrageous, and I do mean outrageous.
Chicago Aquarium/Reptile house- diseased fish in small tanks(bad experience with them).
Aquatica - Best LFS in the chicagoland area and brand new.
Capture the Sea - Horrible setup, diseases and 20g tanks with large anges and multiple tangs everywhere
Hope this helps

The place in Skokie is Old Orchard Aquarium. It's right around the corner from the Old Orchard Mall. They've got a big selection. It's the only place around here that I've seen sell tunicates. They've got a nice shark lagoon with scheduled feedings.
Old Town at North and Wells has the best looking display tanks.
Also in Chicago is Aquatic World at Lincoln and Belmont. It's not the prettiest place, but they've got good sales and a decent staff.
Living Sea, as mentioned, is expensive. However they've got a great selection of healthy fish.
Beyond the Reef and Advanced Aquatics are smaller shops in Schaumburg. Not a huge selection, but parking is easy and the atmosphere is not as frantic as in the bigger shops.

Does anyone have more info on this Aquatica store?? I am going to Chicago for thanksgiving and would like to check it out. They don't have it in the yellow pages online.
Also, there has to be more good LFSs out there. This is Chicago!!
There was a post out there called "Fellow Chicagoans" that listed a few but the search engine is down. Please, contribute some more! :)

Aquatica is located at:
16649 S. Oak Park Ave. (unit D) in Tinley Park, IL.
Phone number:
(708) 633-7333 (REEF)
Business hours:
Mon - CLOSED
Tues-Fri - 11am-7pm
Sat-Sun - 11-5
You know, it is kind of strange the limited selection we have in the country's 3rd largest city.

Thanks for the address Searcher. I was suprised at the lack of choices too, but if you think about it, Chicago is about 1500 miles from the closest drop of seawater. Either way, 11 fish stores are enough to keep you busy for a day or two :)
