Well this is very sad.....I just found my lawn mower blennie dead.....I was afraid this was going to happen as he was getting very thin....I have very little algae in the 225G and the algae sheets and frozen foods he was eating apparently wasn't enough
I did give him scallops with the tongs though....but I guess he needed more
It took a while but I got him out.....I could not bare to see him eaten by the cuc.....I had him since 7/22/2008
...he came with my first batch of fish
RIP LITTLE GUY

Awww, sorry to hear that!
I haven't seen my Black Combtooth in a few days and I'm fearing the same fate for mine, makes me even more sad to read this about yours. I love blennies, one of my favorite groups of fish.

so sorry about your algae blenny (lawnmower blenny) really sad to hear it I have one as well had mine for 3 months I think the lawnmower blennys get there main food source from coepods and suchlike just like mandarin fish as I i've been researching them in there home and by observing my blenny in my fish tank

They're main food source is filamentous algae, which is why they're called "algae blennies." They really don't have the proper mouth shape to be able to hunt for copepods.

Flower, I have been trying to remember, BUT looking back it has been about a year since I had algae issues in the 225G....
Remember how fat he was :( well he started to get skinnier and skinnier...even with the algae sheets....I wil ltell you that he DID eat scallops and the frozen foods, BUT apparently that was not enough for him....I doubt 3 years is their life span
I shuold have moved him to the 54G...I have some algae in their that might have sustained him.....sigh...too late to think about that now though

I think you may be confused with the scooter blenny, which really isn't a blenny.

I am so sorry to hear that, it always make me sad
I thought about getting one when my tank was more established but now I dunno. Its between the LMB or the Starry Blenny..

Yeah I am thinking about that too. I have to start narrowing down my list since of what fish I am going to add to the tank. because it wont be long and I will be able to add things every 2 to 3 weeks lol
