Lobster mini season

Went out today off the central Florida coast in about 60 ft of water for some tasty lobster... We pulled over 40 lobster with eggs and had to let them go, but 10 were good to go. I also shot a personal best red grouper(30 inches and 20 pounds)
. I also took alot of underwater pics that are on film so as soon as the local drug store puts them on disk I will share them with you. Going again tommorrow so hopefully more good stuff to put in the freezer. Off to finish my lobster and Avacado salad
.

ahh the mini season... i definitely dont miss the madness down in key largo with all the wannabes out on the water. not to mention the traffic jam on the stretch!

yeah its not as bad as the keys here, but you still have the one time warriors that have no common sense here too.
2nd day report..... Not good at all. Nothing but females and shorts. I did manage to get my pole

bent on a huge red grouper... I should have brought my speargun but my dive buddy had his and was in the process of reloading when the shot presented itself so I took the shot with a paralyzer head and the fish just shook out of it and swam away
. Oh well tally for the day 3 triggers and 2 seabass.... Better than working i guess!

Very interesting...lots of questions. What is the "mini season"? Is this a small time frame where the public can take lobster, kind of like hunting season? How do you get the lobster, net?

yes mini season is meant for people that dont have commercial licsenses it only is a 2 day season and then regular season opens this week in which the commercial guys participate with their traps. I actually "tickle" them out of the ledge with a stick and then grab them with my hand then wrestle them into the bag
