Does anyone know of a good LFS in Dallas, TX. I live about 1/2 hr south, but work in Dallas. Anything in the heart of south of that where they cater to marine fish would be very helpful.

farieslayer, thanks for the link. It looks like there are a few stores in the Dallas area listed on there. Most seem to have fresh water, and some salt. I guess I will have to go see for myself.
Thanks again

North Dallas Aquarium. I used to live in Allen until I moved to Lubbock in December. They had a great selection and were very knowledgable. I think they are off Trinity Mills and either Marsh or Midway.

North Dallas Aquarium is good. Located in Carrolton near Marsh Lane and Trinity Mills. I haven't bought much from them, but they have excellent knowledge of SW. I did talk to one customer elsewhere that I think they suckered into buying all the wrong items.
***** at Spring Valley and Plano Rd in Richardson is very good. They have a nice selection of fish with decent prices. No live rock though. And typical prices on supplies. I haven't seen the horror stories of ***** at this location. The kids they employ is beginning to go down in experience, but maybe that is because of the school year.
ABT Tropical on Hwy 75 north of Arapaho is ok. Small selection of fish, large supply of rock. Expensive though. Employees have limited knowledge IMO.
HTH's.

I went to North Dallas Aquarium today, and yes they have a good selection, one of the best I have seen in this area. The sails people were a bit pushy, but I am a New York transplant and it did not bother me at all.
Also there was another store across the street from them, Pet Palace, not to bad, but not as much of a selection.
Both are good but a bit too far away for me to do a regular visit. I will however go to them once in a while.
My Search continues... Tomorrow to ABT Tropical

Another place I have heard about is Boutique Pet Shop & Aquarium at 9035 Garland Road near Garland (copied this address from the web). I haven't been there yet, but I have heard good things. If you visit them, let us know what you think about it.
Thanks!

I went to ABT Tropical today, and they have a great fresh water selection. Their Salt water is a bit on the small side, but have a lot of live rock for a good price. I will try Boutique Pet Shop & Aquarium tomorrow.
I am a bit more encouraged than last week, but I used to live in Long Island, NY a Mecca of Salt Water Fish, and a still a bit disappointed with the stores in Dallas.

There are 2 good ones in Fort Worth that I know of and visit. One is The Fish Place behind Ridgmar Mall - 6960 Green Oaks (817) 737-8265.
2nd is Fish Paradise - 3822 Altamesa Blvd (817) 263-1148. Their staff is very knowledgeable! I always go to Fish Paradise b/c of that...and it's right down the road from me!
HTH,

Hey Mojo, do you ever get any service when you go to Saltwater Solutions? I went in there once to check them out and no one said a word to me. I agree, they have some incredible fish, but I didn't see much else (i.e. supplies or lr or ls).

I think that The Fish Place by Ridgemar is steadily declining in the quality of livestock they have. They seem to be more dedicated to freshwater. FishParadise however is awesome. The staff is very friendly and his prices are very reasonable. I bought my whole setup from them. Though, his price of $89 on a Skilter 450 was a little steep.

Today I went to Boutique Pet Shop & Aquarium, as of now it has by far the best selection I have seen in Dallas. They are remodeling some but I think are near the end of that. In Salt water they have a pretty good selection, a large fresh water area, and there were plenty of people on staff. I did not test there knowledge but I will be back to look again. Overall the store was clean and well stocked. It is worth checking out.
