For those of you that have followed my adventures with keeping a mantis, she could use some good karma right now. Last night she was posing as usual and I decided to take yet another pic to post. At 11 am Sunday (today) I was getting ready to post it when I hear a sound coming from the tank. It is not the usual sound of her thumping something. After a few minutes I hear it again and decide to investigate. She is not in the tank. Somehow she got out of the tank. I do not know how long she was out of water. When I found her she looked dead. When I went to move her she attempted to thump me. She is back in the tank now but looking very much like she will not make it. I assume I will know in a short time if she will. Any good karma will be more then welcome. Below is the pic I took last night.

Wow, so she really was trying to build up a wall to escape that last time she rearranged her tank!
I hope she pulls through for you.

Sorry Joe..... I would like to help you but would be insulting your intelligence. I haven't heard anything about mantis's getting out of the water and survivng.
I have heard of snow flake and zebra eels getting out of the water, laying there until they are bone dry and once put back into the tank, after several hours, reviving, with damage to the skin of coarse. Maybe lola will get lucky. She seems to be a healthy little beauty. Until then.... Good Karma. Good Karma, Good Karma coming her way!!

Took this pic a 11:57 her antennae are broken and she is in a curved position so I assume she did damage to her shell as well.

I will most likely see if she can take food if not I will put her out of her misery the most humanly way I can I would rather that then have her starve to death

Sorry to hear that Joe. But it still sounds like she has some fight left since she tried to thump on you. LOL I'd give her some time to recover. Sending good vibes your way.

+1 Gosh man I'm so sorry to hear this, but I too would give it a day or too unless there's an obvious decline in health. I would think though a well fed healthy mantis could come back from such an experience, if it wasn't out of water too long. - My thoughts and prayers to Lola, and her caring owner.

Well as I move toward her tank she sticks her head out of her burrow to look at me. Wonder if she is saying help me or its going to take a lot more then this to get rid of me

+1...they seem pretty tough......I'd just be really curious how she got out...any idea?
Lois I was wondering the same thing. My guess is the heater I think she climbed onto the top and actually just walked out of the tank. Even stranger is where I found her , she was on the lower shelf of the stand an impossible place for her to get to but abviously not
