Its a trade off with hawk fish because they eat shrimp and other small inverts. I had the same dilemma I wanted a flame hawkfish but I also wanted cleaner shrimp, so I went with the cleaner shrimp to keep parasites down.

I have one in my reef and he has not bothered anything. It may just be a personality thing. I would try one as they are great fishes.

my arc eye has one hell of a personality on him . you walk up to the tank he swims to one of his spots and shakes his back fin intill you drop a few nibblets in for him. I love my hawk there entertaining as hell!

Actually altho they will eat shrimp if it is small enough a Longnose is considered reef safe (altho caution is prudent). If the shrimp is larger then the mouth it might be OK (you have to make the decision). I have had many Longnoses over the years and find them delightful fish to have especially if you can find a smaller one to start out with. Max size is 3 to 5 inches altho I had one in my 135 that got to about 7 or 8 inches in 3 years before it finally died of natural causes I believe.
