long term issues

for some reason i cant seem to keep any fish alive. i have delt with ick, fungus and bacteria and have had no success. i have a 72 bow reef that does great with corals, but i cant seem to inhabit any gilled friends. due to an ick attack 2 months ago, i have removed all the living fish and placed them into a 37gal qt. now that they are isolated, ive escaped the ick issue, but cant seem to shake off the fungus stuff. ive tried garlic, ertho-myicin(sp), pennicillin, stress coat, and some organic junk. water params are good...salt 1.024, ph 8.1, amm. 0, nit. 0, nit 12(or so, hard to read). any ideas? what other info do you need? thanks

Fungal infections are pretty rare in SW tanks. Can you describe exactly what you're seeing in terms of symptoms? What fish are affected? If you had ich, you might be experiencing secondary bacterial infections, which are treatable.
What all do you have in the QT, and what are the parameters in that particular system?

whats in your reef? and how do they die? you find them dead in the morning? a little more info please......mostly softies...toadstools, figi leather, zoos, shrooms...hermits and snails, cleaner shrimp, sand sifting star, emeralds, sally...i think thats all the major stuff. usually i see some white spots an their mouth (cottonmouth?) and a couple days later they are belly-up. these are the latest ones.

He looks to be fighting a severe case of ich and a bad bacterial infection. How have you been treating the ich in the display. I am thinking that unless you left your system fishless after you had ich in there that each new fish was infested with the ich. That wrasse certainly looks to be. If these fish are all in the qt, perform hyposalinity on them. Leave your display fishless. This is why your corals and inverts are all doing fine. They cannot host ich. The bacterial infection is from their lowered immune system.

sep...im possitive the pic is giving you a false id on the disease. i know you have valuable info, but the pic is of poor quality and is leading you to believe the wrasse has ick. the small dots in the pic are just the coloring of the fish. this guy, along with the others, have been in qt with copper and the other treatments listed for over 6 weeks. my dt has had no fish in it for the same amount of time. but if the mouth thing is bacterial, how do i treat it. thanks.

Marycyn 2 for saltwater fish, nutritious foods soaked in a rotation of vitachem, selcon, and zoe, and prestine water parameters. What are you feeding now? For nutrition, go for frozen formula foods. No mysis, brine, pellets or flakes. They simply do not have enough nutrition to get their immune systems healthy again.

The key to a stress-free hobby experience is to QT all incoming fish prior to putting them in your tank. How do you have your display set up? LR? What filters? Sand?
