long transport! what do you think?

hey guys
tomorrow im going to pick up a tank that has been setup for 2.5 years. it has lots of fish and corals in it and we are going to transport it about 6 hours away from the pickup. do you guys think most will be o.k.. im going to pack in bags and coolers and transport all the water in a 55 gal drum. total time out of tank will be 7.5 hours
feedback please

You should be just fine. I did the same thing..kept all the water, placed fish in the water from the tank they came from, same with rock, and all corals... Everything was fine..

I hope the drum does not leach some metal into the water, or some traces of a chemical that was stored in it....don't know if it would hurt or not, or what type of drum it is.

Fish and corals should be fine w/ the transport. As for the drum, i have to also ask, what type of drum is it? plastic, metal? Be careful about accidental contamination of the water

the drum is plastic and it was used to transport salad peppers along time ago, so the only chemicals was vinegar to preserve the peppers
by the way krg is my brother that is why im responding to this
trip is going to be fun !?!?

You may aireate the containers with the livestock...may help keeping the ph somewhat intact along with providing some circulation for the critters.

made the trip 1 120 quart cooler and one 100 quart cooler full of livestock and all is well
1 100 quart cooler full of live rock, looks great.
very successful trip
