longest lived reef

The law of entropy states that in nature all systems are slowly breaking down. This means despite the actions or effects of any particular species (including man) that systems such as the rain forest or great barrier reef will eventually collapse and be no more but new ones will likely evolve
in a different location on the planet.
Now considering the enclosed/artificial nature of the reefs in our hobby is the law of entropy greatly accelerated or can the intervention of the hobbyist provide for a reef of indefinite life span? Or at least the lifespan of the hobbyist.
In other words who here has the oldest reef and what if any radical steps became necessary to to keep the law of entropy from taking its toll.

All things live and die. No matter what we do we can not kill LIFE. If we nuke the whole planet we may be gone but life will go on. Life is opportunistic; Meaning that if you are not the strongest living creature then your in trouble.

Introduction of new species into a controlled environment can be instantaneous, it takes a long time in nature. Example, Aiptasia control by adding Peppermint shrimp. My reef tank contained things that had been harvested in the early 1950's.

Well when the oceans conveyor belt stops (so they say) and we have another ice age (inevitable) They will die out anyway.. so will we :thinking:
