Longhorn Cow Fish

I purchased a Longhorn Cow Fish today after eyeing him for about a month.... I probably should have asked this question about a month ago I realize now as I type this but as the case stands here is what I am asking..... The LFS says that he is perfectly fine in my tank with my other fish (active community) and he will get plenty of food. I have read before that he might starve because he is not the most aggressive when it comes to feeding times. Should I take some sort of special care feeding him? Also he is just hanging out behind a filter at the top of the water... I assume he has to adjust before he will explore the tank.

keep a eye on him but yes thay will need time to be ok in a new tank..

If you even think he's on the verge of dying, pull him out of the tank. I was going to get one, but was advised against it as they have a toxin in their body that is released upon death. If it dies, it has the capability of crashing your tank from what I was told. He will need time as it is a shy fish, but just be cautious. He looks like a real cool fish though. Good luck and keep us updated.

feed your other fish normally and once they are preoccupied, turn off the filters and put some food right by the new fish so he gets his OWN dinner so to speak. If hes ready he will eat, if not, just let him be, he should come around.
You do know that they get rather large... rather quickly? they are an awesome fish but I beleive they grow upwards of 6" with about 1 and a half yr.
I dont have any personal experience with them, but just giving you a heads up
Good Luck hes beautiful!
