longnose butterfly

Hey everyone. Right now i have a 54 gallon corner with live rock and sand. I have a false percula and a blue hippo as well as a nice cleaning crew. My wife is hung up on getting a longnose butterfly. I plan on having a much larger tank to move these guys into within the year, but I want to make sure that this addition will not stop me from adding fish in the future. The only other fish I want to add are a yellow tang (last) and maybe 1 or 2 other small fish. Would it be a bad idea to go ahead and get a longnose now?

I don't think getting a Longnose OR a Yellow Tang in a 55 is a particularly great idea... I think I would wait until I got my new tank.

Agreed. Don't plan on an upgrade. Often times things come up that put a larger tank on hold and then you have a small system with fish that are too big. Look at the smaller fish you want. Once the large tank becomes a reality, then you can safely add a couple of larger fish to the mix. LNB's grow to a decent size, so give it a good home from the start. With your proposed list, you're looking at a 125 gallon minimum system to allow enough room.

I wouldn't put a longnose in a tank that is less than a year old. That Hippo is gonna need way more room withina year or so. This site lists the minimum tank size for the fish at the current size, not what it will need.
