Anyone here have one? I just order one for SWF and he is really cool. He seems to be adjusting nicely. :jumping:

seniorabreau, long nose hawks are excellent fish. In general, hawkfish have excellent personalities. It is their aggression that makes them undesirable at times. Lucky for you, long nose's are one of the least aggressive of the hawk family with rarely any problems when it comes to aggression.

i had no problems with my longnose in a reef. he was only 2" or smaller tho. they can have a tendency to eat small shrimp so be careful.

I have a big cleaner shrimp and that's it asides from a SS star and hermits...think one would go after those?
I take that back, I also have an emerald and sally lightfoot crab.

there are virtually no guarantees in this hobby, but if you have a massive cleaner shrimp, your hawk will likely not pay attention to it. if you really like this fish and have room for it (growing to 6"+) then it is well worth the risk IMO.

Oh Well, He was here yesterday. Just got im, acclimated well and perched high in the tank when the lights went off last night. But nowhere to be found today in my 150 gal tank. Hopefully he is cave dwelling and will reappear but I don't think this is the normal behavior of this fish. Anyone experience this kind of behavior from a longnose hawkfish? Could not find him outside the tank, he is probably still around, hopefully alive! There are really no agressive tankmates present, tangs, coral beauty, green chromis, dottyback, six line wrasse.

Be careful. They are fine as long as they do not get angry for some unknown reason. My falco has eaten several hermits while looking at me through the glass. They are one of the least aggressive of the hawks. Hawks have alot of attitude once they get comfortable! My little guy gets mad if his food isn't added when he wants it. They are so incredibly awsome though! They completely make up for their faults with the personality they have. Post some pics of your hawk when you get a chance!! :joy:
