WOW! Those are great deals. I was looking at the one for home and reef. Does anyone know how often you have to change the filters?

Depends on the quality of your water source and how much watr you make. I only have a 30 gal tank so i don't make too much water, but mine last about a year. I would recommend them:D

Just looked on the website you recommended and was very impressed with their prices!!!! I have a question though and hopefully someone can help.
I have a 125 reef and I probably add 50 gallons of r/o water a month to the tank (top offs, cleaning). So i dont need a huge unit but which of these would you recommend me buying to fit my needs????
- Typhoon - $149
- Reefkeeper - $139
- Mighty Mite - $79 (add$25 for DI)
all help is appreciated!!!
Sorry Peasly1, didnt mean to jump in on your question!

Hey Kipass
just curious, what makes the typhoon better then the reefkeeper?? just faster? or are the filters or whole setup better??
Is there an advantage to the 100 gpd or 75 gpd?
Anything has to bet going to the store and buying 1 gallon containers of r/o water like i have been doing for the last 2 years!!

A TDS meter is always useful when determing the purity of the RO/DI water. A wise investment if your striving to keep the water you make as pure as possible. They can also alert you when it is time to change your RO filters and membrane. A cheap unit that takes the guess work out of the equation.
TDS = Total Dissolved Solids

----!!! I have bought 2 Ro's with Di chambers and my brother bought 1 also, best quality I have seen. 100 gpd (will fill tank in about 50 minutes to 1 hour) Shipped to Elgin Illinois $152.00. Everything you need is there, plus comes with great instructions and he answers emails quickly.

I just bought one off of e-bay from a company called Filters Direct 6-STAGE R0-DI 100GAD...I should get it within a few days...The reviews of the product are great! lost of satisfied customers....I got it for $118.00 including S&H ....I also went to the local water store and bought a 35gal water container barrel with pump, so I always have fresh water for topoffs. And I have another barrel for saltwater. Running to the store for water every week was breaking the bank, I cant wait to get this up and running....

Do these units hook up before or after your water softner? I have a huge rust problem with my well water and don't know how well it would work?

Hey Gypsie or anyone else,
How long will the RO/DI water stay good in the storage tank? Does it ever go bad or does it stay good forever? (sounds dumb) but ive always worried about storing water in a tank for too long.
Thanks

I have found a number of tds meters on a site not to be mention ranging from $20 to $60. Is there any that you would recommend or any that I should stay away from?:help:
