your better off making the stand and top and buying a tank, to much stuff can go wrong with making your own tank, and the cost of the stuff to make it is way way more then buying one already made. or if you want a custom shape find a tank maker around where you live and see how much it would be to get one made.

I must disagree, building your own tank can be quit economical, if you are willing to take the time to do it right. Especially if you are building a larger tank. The larger the tank the more it is in your best intereste to build it yourself. And you are able to costumize it a lot more. I also second the garf recommendation, they have some great info on building your own tanks, and if you have any questions they are always happy to answer them.

i agree with gollus with building the tank im building a 360gal tank as we speak and after totaling it all out i have found its a lot cheaper to build it but it is time consuming to do it right

I agree, even tho I purchased my 180 with canopy and stand....I bet it would have been much cheaper had I built it myself (or had help doing so)
Hopefully soon I will try building a bigger tank, maybe 350+....greed gets the best of us
