i knew this was the best place to ask

so i myself have a good system but my parents have recently started a 20 gallon tank and are in need of a good cheaper protein skimmer
but only have $50 to spend!
so far ive found @ the cough ay site
1st-JEBO Aquarium Tank Protein Skimmer 178 Hangon Filter
2nd-Nano Reef Protein Skimmer Needle Wheel Venturi Rio (Taam/Rio)

i myself would go for the later but the 1st one is good up to 30 gallons instead of the 2nd which is 20 gallons
anyone have opinions or know of any other type of skimmer in the price range?
thanks for the help

depending on how young the tank is, during the first six months of running, it shouldn't need a skimmer if you do regular water changes. If I were you, I would wait and do some water changes and save my money and get a much better skimmer then you would otherwise get.

Your best bet is to try and find a decent used one thru either you local reefclub (if youhave one) or on craigs list.....Good luck

Yeah, I agree, if funds are limited the Coralife Super Needle Wheels are not bad. 99% of the nano skimmers are garbage and totally worthless, maybe a Remora can be found for a good price?

Best bang for the buck I have found are the Coral life Super Skimmers!
Get out of the habit of thinking cheap or inexspensive on skimmers or for the matter anything in saltwater. Do more frequent water changes, by a surface skimmer for your filter, and save up to by good equipment! It will actually save you money and heartache in the end!

ok
the thing is this i have equipment left over from my upgrade to my basement sump
aquaC remora 300 gph
cascade canister filter 300 gph
and i was going to give these to them but it seems really over kill for that little 20 gallon tank
or will they work
i mean were talking 30 turnover rate!
and that skimmer is way to big for the tank anyways!
