After my 29 gallon biocube crashed I gave that to my brother and I went up to a 90 gallon now I want to go back down lol. something smaller than a 29 gallon this time and I want to make it a reef. I know theres that tank with
t5s on it already, whats it called again? are there any other tanks that maybe come with stronger lighting like metal halides or anything? something better than a biocube lol.
help me decide! thanks!

I think no matter what you should just buy your own lights, that way you're not limited as to what a certian company puts on theirs. There's always something better out there. *shrug*

I like the look of the completed hood and curved glass though. I think the whole thing looks very clean. Which cube would get me the best lighting do you think though?

Right now I think I'm going towards the jbj 28 gallon nanocube hqi (that's the one with metal halides right?) and the free stand for 400. Does anyone have this? How's the lighting? Can anyone tell me anything about the tank?
Thanks!

I have it. The lights are pretty good. The heat can pretty much be maintained by a good fan on the back.... but I don't know what your ambient temp is in the summer. But if you like taking good sharp pictures... this one sux from the front because of the bow. I have the 12g JBJ, the 24 gallon JBJ, 28 gallon oceanic and the JBJ HQI. The HQI is the worst with the bow.
If I was going to buy one now... I think I would try the new one out with the LEDs.

No I'm not really looking to take pics just enjoy the tank LOL. I pretty much just want a little clownfish and nem/ coral tank.
I mean I can pretty much keep anything I want in that tank right? I plan on using the nano tuners actinic retrofit kit too..

Oh yea, also I'm not too familiar with metal halides but the stock bulb can be switched out with a brighter one if need be right?

yes you can change the bulbs for metal halides. and if your switching out bulbs, they are all pretty much the same brightness, so you would be switching it out for a different color temperature, or k (kelvin). this reflects how blue or yellow the bulb is. 6500k being yellow and 20000k being pretty blue.

What bulbs would u recomened for bright white or slight blue tinge?
Has anyone ever heard of the actinic retrofit kit from nano tuners? Any experiences?

for a bulb that is bright white/blue tinge go with a bulb that is about 10000k to 12000k but i dont exactly now the brands because im a t5 guy
