has anyone ever heard of a device that can hold a razor blade and can be connected to a magnetic algae scrapper. I am convinced that the only way to address my hard grn algae problem is with a sharp razor. For those of you that don't remember, I don't have visable access to the front of my tank.
lets invent something...

I used a single edge razor and it was very effective. I also have a glass tank and do not recommend it for acrylic. I later switched to a plastic scraper used for auto windshields in winter.
The better solution is to prevent the algae from growing to begin with. Watching feeding, lighting and especially the use of plant life prevent the nusience algaes from growing.

Worked great for me, even at removing coraline.

I'm sure I'm missing something. If you can't see the front of your tank, why does it matter if you can't scrape it clean?

I think what he is saying is his tank is in the wall and it is like most of us trying to scrape the back of the tank. I dont know how you would get around all of the live rock. you would need something with enough force to get the hard stuff off with out scratching the glass but that also bends around the rocks.

dockery hit it head on. It would be so easy if I could just attach a razor blade to my magnetic scrapper and get all the hard grn stuff while I look at it. I have al kinds of scrappers with different size poles, but it amounts to the same thing everytime, I CAN'T SEE WHAT I"M SCRAPPING.....

Penn Plax makes an algae scraper that holds two razor blades if thats what your looking for. I had one awhile back and it worked well.

There is a guy at Dallasmarine who has all of his tanks in the wall and they are sparkling; maybe drop him an email

I might come across a Kawasaki ZRX1100 with a full blown overhaul by Muzzy this winter. Bored out, new cams, pistons, open air box's individually for each carb, pretty smokin' will hang with my 02 R1 up to around 150-160mph. All the work was done by the muzzy race techs.

Nas -- is it attachable to a magnetic scrapper?
Daniel --just waiting on an incredible deal. I see them go for $4k on e-bay sometimes.
Dockery --I'll run by there next week. Thx as always!

Its a magnetic scraper that holds two razor blades against the glass. If you leave your email I can send you a site that sells it and you can take a look yourself.
