Looking for everyones "opinion" on a good Marine book?

I was at Barnes and Noble for lunch today and found what I considered a pretty good marine hobby book. Hardbound, about $55.
I guess my question is this: What is a good marine book (other than the one I found today that everyone recommends)
This one had chapters on chemistry of water, inverts, corals, and of course fish.
Small pictures of each item, plus a caption containing information if reef safe, food types, compatibility, temp, how to feed, etc.
Any suggestions out there?

what exactly are you looking for out of the book? Sprung and Delbeck's book on corals is nice and Julian Sprung has a book called Corals and another Inveritbrates .... both are good as well.
Use caution as there are a lot of books out there and not all of them are worthwhile!

my vote for The Concientious Marine Aquariast by Robert Fenner as a beginners or general book, but there are so many out there that are in depth for various things.....

my vote is for the conscientious marine aquarist too! (too bad the Helping Friendly Book doesnt include a chapter on reef fishes ... :cool: :) :p

in my humble opinion, there are no good books on this topic. Your best choice is hours on the net. So many points of view, so many experiances. Save yourself some money and use it for your tank. Dont buy any books. The net is your friend.

Although I really love the internet, I still would recommend getting some books. They are wonderful references to have on hand. And, they are portable. I got a relatively uninterrupted chance to read The Concientious Marine Aquariast (cover to cover)while on a road trip. [Yes, it was along trip. We had a wedding to go to on September 15th, 2001. Obviously, with no international flights at that time, we decided to drive.]
At that time I made a wish list for equipment, fish and inverts. I still refer to that list today. You can also snuggle up with a book in the evening to relax and dream about your tank as you go to bed.
I think that the internet and books compliment each other very well.

Once you decide on what books you get you can keep updated on the net as quite a few of these authors/experts publish in journals etc that can be accessed by doing a search on the internet. Good way to keep current and supplement what you read in books.

One of the greatest will be: (The Marine Aquarium Problem Solver). by Nick Dakin at Barns and Noble. Because it has Practical and Expert advice on keeping fish & Invertebrates, It also has over 500 questions answered on all your needs.... $30
And a good coral book would be Aquarium Corals, by Eric H. Borneman....... Good Luck they helped me a lot.....:)
