HEY MISCO SHAW-
Don't feel bad, all these Cousteaus are criticics... a 180 is STILL too small to house sharks. I had a customer who was insistant upon getting a shark for his 750 gal tank. It took 2 years until his cute nurse shark became a 4 foot eating machine. What does one do with a 4 foot shark? Public aquariums don't want them, and no one has a tank to adequetly house them.
I/we have Nurse Sharks, Mako Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Bonnethead Sharks and a Leopard Shark. We also have a 225,000 gallon exhibit to house them.
My message to all... with a few species excepted, sharks should be left in the ocean. Jeers to all who deal in them.

Oh I forgot- everyone go ahead and justify your own poor advice, while still trying to belittle a kid who wanted some information.
Bash me, I can take it.

Nerd.....I have a tendency to agree that sharks are better off left in the ocean along with Moorish Idols. Some smaller shark species can be kept in the home aquarium provided it is big enough. I do not beleive anyone suggested a nurse shark could go in a 180...but I am too tired to read all the posts here. In fact' I believe we have one casualty form a building jumper at the suggestion.
I do not beleive anyone "belittled" a kid, but rather had some fun with a few posts. Some even offered apologies as did the original poster.
I guess I am just an ignorant salt water aquarist for 30 plus years ....Call me Jaques Custodian.

I sit here and read the advice (or should I say "criticism") when people ask about wanting a shark and they have this size tank, and then every one replys with"you can't put that in less then a 180" or " imagine bein in a closet and taking a step and hitting a wall, then turn and take a step and hit another wall" or even bashing them saying" They just want one for showing off to there friends. If you think about it ,even a bamboo shark in a 1000 gallon tank would be like you living in your house for the rest of your life so the next time you bash someone for wanting to put one in a 120 ,think about it before you reply and try to explain it to them a little better because we are all Guilty........

Im not saying we should look at it like hey, at least were keeping them alive and safe for along time ,,, i understand thats evolution and only the strong survive, but ....

Sharksbait...your quote regarding the shark in a closet pertains to a different thread and was said by me. That individual was warned early on when they orignally asked about a shark in a 50 gallon tank, They proceded to ignore the advice, buy a shark egg and place it in a 50 dgallon tank. My post was in hopes that the individual would find a suitable home for the animal as a 50 gallon tank cannot house a shark. This was long after the individulal had asked about a shark.
The inidividual continued to ignore and insisted on keeping the animal.
Unfortunately, there are no fish police to protect these animals. Anyone that would willfully keep an animal in an enviornment that is not suitable, after receiving advice aginst this deserves any and all crticism received. I have NO respect for someone that does this. I am sure others feel as I do.
Jacques Custodian ......off to the Calypso for some Limbo.

I would like to apologize to all for my brazen post. I was trying to let Misco Shaw know that no one is perfect and even his critics were giving bad advice.
Misco was asking for advice and some posts were the type that would cause him to stop seeking advice.
Once again, I am sorry for being an A-hole.
