Looks like smoke!

Our Scooter Blennie and Mandarine are picking at things on the rocks. Every now and then there seems to be a puff of what looks like smoke, come from their gills. Is this a sign that they are eating?

seems to me like they might pick up some sand from sucking the copepods out of the rock and then they just toss the sand or whatever is on your rock out their gills. i don't think it's anything to worry about.

That's what I figured! But it also a sign that they are eating which was what I was concerned about. Our mandarine was added to our tank 3 days ago and never really moved much until today. Now he is going over all the rocks so he must be eating! :cheer:

i'm sure he is if he was acclimated properly and by the sounds of it he was. also be aware that they like to eat at night as well because that's when the copepods come out.

We have had a scooter bleenie for about 3 months and he have continued to get very "pudgie". Now we have added a mandarin, he seems to be doing great so far! Right now we have a 55gallon and am getting a 150gallon this weekend :jumping:
