I can not understand it. SG 1.025/PH 8.4/Ammonia 0 ppm/ Nitrite 0 ppm/ Nitrate 0 - 10 ppm/ Calcium 440/ Alk 2.75 Meq/L I have 305 watts two 65 actinics and one 150 metal halides. I also was spot feeding it twice a week. I had it close to the top but moved it to the bottom when I noticed it mantel not coming out all the way. I just do not understand it, this really SUCKS.
I had it for about three months. and my lighting time is Halide 8 AM to 2 PM and Actinics 11 am to 6 pm.

Sorry for your lost....Everything sounds like it was in check. It happens to all of us at one time or another.

how much were you spot feeding? with other filter feeders if you feed them too much they can get clogged up. not sure about clams though, just what i was reading on other filter feeders.

The only thing I can think of is I have this big hermit crab and a Urchin. The clam would be at the bottom of the tank a lot of times. Or I would have it at the bottom and it would be turned all around the next day. I am just not sure?

Did u turn the clam over and look at the shell to see if anything killed it from underneath, like some sort of preditor.

had same issue going for awhile with mine. currently my clam is alive but in a protected area of the tank inside a cage. I believe one of my tangs was nipping at it. if yours is still alive make a cage for it and put it in there if it gets better probabbly a nipper

Is this a new tank? I never recommend a clam until the tank is about a year. Clams should not need spot feeding by the time you purchase them.
