Well. .....I found my yellow coris wrasse on top of the tank this morning. .....no clue how it got out. Fish was over 4" long. And over 2x the width of the egg crate. I loved that fish too. :(

Crap. I'm so sorry. Buggers are escape artists, aren't they? Seems like most wrasses are.
Have u thought about using a net top instead of egg crate? I did a double-layer net that really helped keep my McCosker's in place...

YEAH...I'm pretty disgusted......I will probably not replace it since I am maxed out anyway in that tank (MIGHT NOT I SAY)
BUT I can not for the life of me figure out how it could have gotten out...ONLY thing I could guess is that the egg crate has a small bow between it and the small sections of glass I have in the front that I use as lids....even that to me would be very difficult to accomplish
BUT....it is gone

Wrasses want to die, I sware it's true. I had screen over egg crate, not one tiny space for escape...mine waited until I opened the "door" to feed them, and it jumped out and landed in the back of the tank where I couldn't reach it without a grabber.....it never had a chance back there, and I think it planned the whole thing.
I'm sorry Meowzer....such a sad thing to lose a pretty fish like that.

I can imagine that our fish, looking through the glass, assume we are walking around in saltwater.
"Why do you get such a big tank and all I have is this little one? That's not fair!"

LOL...I think they want to commit sushi. Wrasses jump because they are afraid. A coward dies a thousand deaths, and a brave man only once. It's more like the guy who is afraid of flying who wants to jump out of the 747 while it's in flight and opens the door. Most of our fish, if they are that stressed..... just falls over and dies. The wrasse jumps to it's death trying to get away from nothing chasing it.

and it always died in my tank maybe because of the shallow sand (less than 1/2") they don't do well but I still have two .the longest one I have right now is only 10 months old.
