Lost site of a Bristle Worm in my tank.

I was looking at my tank yesterday and noticed in a dark cave I made a long worm type thing come out of a small whole in the rock. I already knew what it is was, but i wanted to watch it, cause i never seen one of them before, just read about them and seen pics on the net. I want to get rid of it now, but i can't find him. I looked all over the tank, and special shrimp or fish that hunt these things or something?

I like it when I see the worms. I don't find them ugly at all anymore. I get excited when I see 'em b/c it means my rock & sand are alive and well. (Plus seeing the pods and sponges, etc. -- I can't support corals yet so dusters and the above mentioned are what I have to watch. :) Well, plus my other wonderful creatures (fish, shrimp, star, etc.)

As the others said they are a good thing to have in your tank but if you want to get it out they make bristle worm traps for the smaller ones or buy an arrow crab, they love to eat the worms.

well, if your planning on getting an arrow crab,, think again, it says you have 2 feather dusters..arrow crabs are known for destroying them..

I had a large bristle worm in my tank that I removed only because it was so big. I shut the main lights off to the tank they seem to only come out in the dark, I took a droplight and installed a red bulb, the red light will not scare them into hiding after the light were off for a couple of hours I scanned the front of the tank with the red light found the worm and removed it with kitchen tongs. I have several smaller worms in the tank I just removed the large one.

I have thousands of bristle worms in my tanks. At night, the rock and CC are covered with them. I don't think that they have ever caused a problem, but I do know that they consume alot of junk.

Why would you want to get rid of it? Bristle worms are vital componets to reef ecosystems. Besides, the likelyhood of you having just one bristle worm is nill....you can not get rid of all of them.
