i feel your pain..i lost a golden rhomboid..i was cleaning and he must have jumped when my back was turned..i found him about an hour later all dried up...i was not happy $400 gone like that...i will tell you that eggcrate is not the best for holding flashers in..the can and will fit through i lost a couple that way...it is good for larger fairys but if you can make a top out of some wire mesh that you get in the garden dept. at home depot or lowes..it works way better than eggcrate and i have not lost one fish since going to it..plus there is not much difference in the light coming trough as well...just a thought when you get back and we work out a trade i have some left over i could show you how i made my top and hook you up with the mesh...sorry to hear about your fish..it really sucks to see a fish go like that
Ouch! I don't think I could convince myself to buy a $400 fish that is a known jumper. Fortunately, this flasher only put me about 35 bucks in the hole, but it still sucks to have lost him. The mesh you're talking about sounds like a safer bet than egg crate. I think it would also work better since the egg crate, being a light diffuser, is thicker and wider, thereby blocking a lot of light coming in from the top and towards the sides.
Since I am so impatient, though, I made another run to the LFS today and picked up a new guy. I made sure this one was bigger, lol... He's got a good belly goin, so I think he's too chubby to squeeze through the crate. The ID on him was a blue-sided wrasse. I don't know if its correct, but he's got a bright red head, a light-royal blue belly, and green/yellow sides with an orange dorsal fin.. Very cool coloration. Any ideas on this one? I'll get some pics up as soon as I can (he's spent all day hiding)...

that does sound like the bluesided when you get the pic up i should be able to give you a postive id...some that i have seen sold as blue sided are really female solorensis..but the pic will help..good luck on this one i hope it works out..fairys and flashers are my favorite fish and have been for quite a few years

My apologies for the quality, but I had to take these pics hastily, since the new guy is still apprehensive to anything approaching the tank. He still spends all day hiding, but I managed to snap two pics of him comin out for a brief lap.

Here's a close-up of his colors w/ flash

And I randomly decided to get one of my favorite guy, since he's rarely out anyways

Aye... so many names for so many wrasses and so little knowledge (on my part, of course
).
He's starting to pop out a bit more. Hopefully I will get some time to take some more pics tomorrow when I finish up with my finals

Thanks for the ID confirmation!

Thanks. The collection will always be expanding and I'm always looking for new stuff so when the time comes to make some more frags, we can see if we can work something out for trades

lol. That is tough competition now with my rotundaflora for favorite acan. Those colors pop exactly as they do in that pic (taken under 14K MH w/ no actinic). Hopefully they grow fast so I can share their beauty. They can be pricey, but the colors are unparalleled.

Well, since it has been about a month since I've posted any pics, I figure I would add some new ones to show the growth I've had thus far.
And as for quality, you know how it goes. My apologies

Aeon Flux - With a bit of scoring, these started to take off

Coco Pinks - You can't see them, but they've sprouted three new polyps on the sides
On the side is my neon pink eye chalice.. Much brighter in person.

Cyclops - One of my current favorites in the tank (top three).
This is an exceptionally blurry pic, but my camera and subsequent picture-taking abilities are rather limited... My bad.

Joker's Revenge - These are another personal tank favorite of mine

Super Skittles Aussie Acan - Man, has this thing colored up in the past month! All the heads are a nice bright red and blue/green. I love it!
The moon craters monti is catching the corner of the frame as well, I'm gonna be very sad to see it go (don't worry, rebelprettyboy; I haven't forgotten about you
)

Zombie Eyes - These have sprouted three polyps since the last pic. I can't wait to get a nice colony of these beauties going...

As for the others, I will be posting up more pics in the following days (or weeks, depending on my schedule). I've got another order coming in soon, so I'll have pics of those as well

I seriously need a new camera, I know...
...If only I could save up and stop spending every incoming penny on frags...

So, I was looking back through my sw photos, and uncovered these relics. It's so strange to look back at what once was...
This picture was taken August 6, 2007

And this one was taken a little over one month later, September 17, 2007

I miss my flame angel

Don't worry about it. Paychecks are overrated, anyways.
